This series of oil paintings, Elegie and Weary, is an inner response to reports and images from war impacted lives and places. I delve into this terrain as a means to initiate a process of connecting, remembering and holding these tragedies. The paintings grapple with a felt sense of disorientation, dislocation, loss and isolation, mental states that can take hold even in relative safety. The series consist of dense, mournful cityscapes, landscapes, and human figures that inhabit undefined, unrecognizable spaces.
Elegie paintings are 36” x 70” each, oil on canvas
